The Santa Ninfa’s Municipal Villa reopens its doors.
Thanks to the synergy between public institutions, artisans and local associations, with the precious support of the APF – Angelo PirrelloFoundation, the”VillaLab“project returns to the Santa Ninfa‘s citizensa completely renovated Municipal Villa full of new spaces. The project would not have been possible without the great support and full confidence of mayor Giuseppe Lombardino and his administration, who collaborated closely and in full harmony with the APF Foundation in order to achievethe common goal of restoring light to the city’s Municipal Villa.
The Villa will be a new place of aggregation for young people and adults, where you can gather, play sports, relax and enjoy a unique panorama, but also rediscover the importance of protecting the territory and develop a greater environmental awareness. A first step on this front is the”Educational Herns Garden“,an olfactory and sensory path located in the heart of the Municipal Villa. Thanks to the precious design work of Giuseppe Bernardone, nursery director at the”Mediterranean Gardens“of Marsala, it was possible to create a space entirely dedicated to the aromas and spices of the territory. In fact, the route includes over fifteen varieties of native aromatic plants, typical of the Mediterranean scrub, and allows citizens not only to rediscover the beauty of the local flora, but above all to touch, smell and taste firsthand the flavors of their rich land.
Twelve local companies spontaneously offered their cooperation to the project. The Santa Ninfa’s artisans have donated their availability to restore the area, restore the public greenery, install a video surveillance system, reintegrate the play area, renovate the toilets, renovate the urban furniture and paint and repair the interior structures of the Villa.
The planning and progress of the works followed the guidance of Peppe Bivona, supported by the architect Nicola Pacino,in close cooperation with the technical referent of the Municipality, the architect Vincenzo Morreale.
Fabio Ferrara, aka Hira,an artist from Castelvetrano who is very sensitive to the theme of social work, has also donated some of his talent to the Villa. Fabio worked on the central tower of the Villa, creating a real work of street art, able to spread a strong message of environmental sustainability entitled “Nature is watching you“.
In the coming months “VillaLab” will be the protagonist of numerous events and activities organized by the local cultural and sports associations that have joined the project. Strengthened by their deep knowledge of the territory, these associations have drawn up a dense calendar of meetings and workshops, which will animate the Villa involving all citizens.
